Profile of Jude C. Munaonye

Jude Chidi Munaonye is the Project Director, Living Hope Organization (Livhorg) a community base support group for people living with HIV and AIDS Abia State, Nigeria and has been an active member of Her Excellency’s Community sensitization team since 2005. A graduate on Anti - Retroviral Therapy, HIV Counseling & Testing University Advancement Centre University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria
Jude is an activist, advocate, writer, trainer, public speaker and a television producer and presenter. He has a background in community mobilization and has over 10 years experience in fighting and advocating for the rights of the marginalized and vulnerable in society mostly PLWHA.Jude has worked on issues of people with disabilities, and people living with HIV and AIDS. He has engaged in HIV and AIDS policy review and development around issues of treatment, research and ethics and also advocates for inclusive programming involving people living with HIV. He is instrumental as a key actor in mobilizing, networking and mentorship of PLWHA, particularly women living with HIV and orphans and is deeply concern with the evaluation in human dignity in most part of the world and advised that good understanding of what is ideal and what is real in every situation will assist greatly in overcoming some of the contemporary social challenges. He has great experience having worked in both public and the private sector in different capacities.

Every great achievement starts with an individual and great mind, they said discuss issues. Jude started his humanitarian work in the area of HIV and AIDS and Poverty as a HIV Counselor & Testing Officer (Volunteer) in April, 2000 five months after diagnosed positive for HIV with a Non-Governmental Organization known as Total Development Organization (TDO). TDO works to improve the quality of lives of people living with HIV/AIDS, Poverty, Women, Orphans and Vulnerable Children.

In recognition of his good work and in order to sustain the progress, Jude was elected and confirmed as a National Public Relation Officer (P R O) of Network of people living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) on 17th February 2006, a position he maintained to 31st March, 2009; as a compliment to his vision, Jude was elected in May, 2007 as the coordinator of Network of Abia People living with HIV/AIDS (NAPWAS) which gave him the leverage to reach out to a good number of people living with HIV/AIDS in all part of his State/Country.

He has been involved in Palliative Home Based Care in the Communities visiting bed ridden PLWHA, he has also faced both the print and electronic media in Nigeria and outside Nigeria, Jude at one time runs weekly radio program in the State Radio Station and one Christian Radio Station Vision Africa but stopped due to finance, research and sampled opinions confirmed his good leadership style, fairness, transparency, receptivity and above all respect for human dignity.



Jude founded various Organizations for people living with HIV and AIDS in Abia State, Nigeria among them are: Living Hope Organization, Amazing Grace Foundation, Abundant Life Organization, Precious Life Organization, Precious Life Support Group etc, his contributions to development work goes beyond Nigeria and Africa. He has been recognized severally as Unsung Hero and outstanding role in giving a human face and voice to the problem of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria as well as his contribution to Universal Access Initiative. He was the first person to openly declare his HIV status in Abia State, Nigeria.

Jude C Munaonye has served and is still serving as member of the board of Abia State Action Committee on AIDS (ABSACA) Vice President Centre for Transformational Leadership Development (CTLD) Nigeria, Member Presidential Committee on the Scale of ART in Nigeria, Ethic Review Board on HIV/AIDS, PRO Civil Society on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN) Abia State Chapter, Zonal Coordinator Treatment Action Movement Nigeria (TAM), and Currently the Project Coordinator Living Hope Organization, Nigeria among others.
He has traveled across the continent of Africa, Europe and the Caribbean in the course of his work.
